One of the hallmarks of traditional American cuisine is the classic pecan pie. It consists of a thin pastry crust that is topped with a mixture of eggs, butter, flour, a sweetener such as brown sugar, syrup, or molasses, and a handful of halved or chopped pecans.

Ingredients

  • 4 large eggs

  • 1 cup butter flavored pancake syrup

  • 1 cup firmly packed light brown sugar

  • 4 Tbsp butter, melted

  • 1 Tbsp flour

  • 1/2 cup chopped pecans

  • 1 cup pecan halves

  • 9″ pastry pie crust

Directions

  • In a large bowl, combine eggs, pancake syrup, brown sugar, melted butter, flour, and chopped pecans. Whisk until smooth.
  • Pour into unbaked 9″ pastry pie crust.
  • Bake in a preheated 350*F oven for 45-55 minutes or until the center is just set.
  • Watch the last 10 minutes of cooking to make sure pecans and pie don’t brown too much and burn. If it’s getting dark, tent the pie with a piece of aluminum foil and continue baking until the center is just set.
  • When done, remove from oven and let cool for 30 minutes to an hour. Slice and enjoy it!
